Mr. Imran Sarwar

President & CEO, National Bank of Pakistan

Imran Sarwar has been serving as President & CEO of the National Bank of Pakistan since September 2026. He brings over 27 years of diversified banking experience spanning corporate, institutional and investment banking, credit, and risk management across Pakistan, the UAE, the UK, and Australia. He holds degrees in Business and Accounting from Ohio Wesleyan University, USA, and an LLB from the University of Punjab.

Before joining NBP, Mr. Sarwar served as Group Executive – Risk and Credit Policy and Group Chief Risk Officer at United Bank Limited. He oversaw risk and credit frameworks across corporate and investment banking, SME, agriculture, consumer, and international portfolios, while strengthening regulatory compliance and operational, market, and technology risk controls.

Earlier, he held senior positions at Standard Chartered Bank, including Managing Director and Head of Corporate Banking for the UAE, along with leadership roles in Origination and Client Coverage in Pakistan and the UAE.

Mr. Sarwar has also served on the boards of Khushhali Microfinance Bank, Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company, UBL Bank Tanzania, and UBL Funds. His leadership combines strategic banking expertise with extensive experience in credit and risk governance, supporting institutional resilience and sustainable growth.
